Early Days
Whether you have a mountain of notes or just the first inkling of an idea, I can help you discern the story you want to tell. We’ll strategize together about how to turn the writing and thinking you’ve already done into a fully-fledged book. It can be a daunting prospect, but I will help you figure out how you’ll get from A to Z in a way that works for you.
The Thick of It
If you’re in the midst of writing your book, or working through your seventh round of revisions, you’re probably in need of some encouragement — and an experienced outside eye. I’ll provide you with extensive feedback on drafts and work-in-progress, helping you keep your focus and ensuring your best ideas are front and center.
The End in Sight
A (mostly) finished manuscript presents many new challenges. I’ll see to it that your soon-to-be published book is exactly what you want it to be. Careful copyediting is about much more than correcting grammatical mistakes. This is an opportunity to ensure that your point comes across vividly and clearly. I’m a stickler for detail, so I’ll help make this last push as productive as it can possibly be.
I am currently open to working on memoirs, biographies, and histories; inventive creative nonfiction; urgent reportage; incisive theory (particularly if you’re making complex ideas accessible to a wide audience); and academic monographs in the arts, humanities, and qualitative social sciences.
